Frightened tourists had to be winched onto helicopters after a broken French ski lift left them hanging 100ft in the air.

The Gresse-en-Vercors ski lift was transporting more than 50 tourists up a slope at the time, including several children.
Two helicopters were used to winch the skiers to safety, according to The Daily Telegraph.
