Escaped prisoner jailed after Facebook taunts

An escaped prisoner who taunted police using his Facebook page was sentenced today to six months.

Craig Lynch, 28, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court in south London and was given the jail term for one count of escaping from lawful custody, a court official said.

He absconded from Hollesley Bay Prison near Woodbridge, Suffolk, in September, and was arrested by the Metropolitan Police in Kent on January 12.

Lynch was already serving a seven-year sentence for aggravated burglary.

During his time on the run, he posted messages on Facebook, including one on Christmas Day which said: “Wow it really is xmas ha ha i cant believe i made it f    tha police.”

He developed a following of around 40,000 people before the profile was taken down.
