Focus females ‘could choose poll’
The General Election could be swung by a new type of floating voter – the “Focus Female”, according to an AA/Populus poll.
As many as 61% of women, many of them Ford Focus drivers, have yet to choose which political party is the most motorist-friendly, the poll of 14,848 AA members found.
‘Female Focus drivers’ could choose election result – a poll says
In contrast, only 36% of males polled have not yet made their minds up about who to vote for.
The poll found that 74% of women reckoned motoring issues were quite or very vital in determining who they voted for.
Women were found to be more concerned than men about the cost of motoring, drink-driving and drug-driving, and road safety.

Baker knifed in skull died after refusing to see doctor
A bakery worker who went home with a knife in his head after being attacked died six weeks later from a brain abscess, a court heard today.
Zydrunas Sabaitas was stabbed
Zydrunas Sabaitas, 36, was stabbed in the skull with a 20cm (8in) blade during a fight with a squatter in a house where he used to live.
He returned home to his wife and got a friend to pull the knife out – but insisted he did not need treatment.
Mr Sabaita went to hospital only after suffering an epileptic fit but wife Svetlana still did not tell medical staff about the knife wound and he was discharged the next day.
She revealed the truth the day before he died on January 25, 2009, after a scan showed his brain had become infected, the Ancient Bailey heard.
Mr Sabaitas, a Lithuanian national who came to Britain in 2007, had started to ‘behave in a childlike fashion’ prosecutor Ed Brown said. ‘He complained of severe headaches, he slept a lot, didn’t eat much and stayed in bed for a number of days,’ he added.

Snow and chilling winds to hit Britain as winter returns next week
The UK is set to be hit by snow, winds and temperatures that feel as low as -7C as the coldest winter in 31 years makes an unwelcome return.
Snow may be about to fall once more
Forecasters warned that low nighttime temperatures of 2C for the rest of the week would be followed by heavy rain at the weekend and then snow in northern Britain and Scotland next week.
Bitter northerly winds would leave some parts of the country experiencing windchill factor of -7C.
The cold snap comes after Britons swarmed to public parks, beaches and sporting events enjoying sunny and warm weekend, with temperatures soaring to 20C.
